RAM 2500 EXTERIOR
The new RAM 2500 Heavy Duty pickup trucks are designed to cheat the wind for better fuel economy and efficiency while towing and hauling whatever floats your boat, or even the boat itself. The new RAM 2500 features six different grille styles that are a total departure from the historic crosshairs of the past. The front fascia includes new intakes in the front bumper to let the engine room breathe easier, with greater airflow to the largest turbo intercooler ever utilized in a RAM pickup truck. With new air dams and other wind-cheating devices, the RAM 2500 is one of the most aerodynamic RAM trucks ever offered.
At the bed-end side of things, RAM Heavy Duty trucks offer buyers a choice of a 6-foot, 4-inch box that is the perfect complement to the Regular, Mega and Crew Cab versions or the full 8.0-foot version for the Regular and Crew Cab equipped RAM Heavy Duty truck. A variety of wheelbases are available depending on your cab selection and include a regular cab wheelbase of 140 inches, and an overall length of 232 inches. Moving up to the Mega Cab finds things stretching out a bit with a wheelbase of 160.4-inches and an overall length of 249.9-inches. Crew Cab owners selecting the 8.0-foot box, will see their vehicle measuring in with a wheelbase of 169 inches, and an overall length of 260.8 inches.
RAM 2500 PERFORMANCE
Performance takes a backseat to no one when driving the RAM 2500. This Heavy Duty pickup truck is supplied with the anything-but-standard 410-horsepower 6.4-liter HEMI V8 producing 429 lb-ft of stump-pulling torque. It is mated to the tried, true and very smooth-shifting TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission that is perfect for almost every application. But for some others, there's never enough power.Â
That's why RAM offers a pair of available Cummins Diesel engines. First offered with the RAM 2500 Heavy Duty is the Cummins 6.7-liter I-6 Turbo-Diesel that produces 370 horsepower @ 2,800 rpm. Add in the 850 lb-ft of torque @ 1,700 rpm, coupled to an upgraded version of the 68RFE six-speed automatic transmission, to get pulling power for days.
RAM 2500 FRAME
Underneath the RAM 2500 lies the bones of a beast. Built utilizing all-new frames constructed of 98.5-percent high-strength steel, with six separate crossmembers, hydroformed main rails and fully-boxed rear rails for optimal strength and efficiency. An added benefit: Although RAM Heavy Duty trucks are stronger, and more capable than ever, they are now 143 pounds lighter than before, thanks to the use of lightweight materials in the powertrain, aluminum hood, and the frame itself.
Wide front frame rails enable front suspension components to be "beefed-up" for added roll stiffness to aid in load bearing and handling. Towards the back, the rear-axle structural crossmember includes provisions for fifth-wheel and gooseneck hitches and has been upgraded for increased towing capacity.
RAM 2500 INTERIOR
The interior of the RAM 2500 features the latest in technology, quality and luxury. Your RAM can be outfitted in many different ways according to your needs. Character counts, and each trim level is designed to reflect the most important character: You.
Driver-centric, with a dashboard angled to the driver, the RAM 2500 can be configured with an available Uconnect 4C NAV navigation system on a 12-inch fully configurable touchscreen that can be adapted to your immediate needs. Directly in front of the driver, is an available seven-inch driver information display that enables the driver to personalize information inside the instrument cluster.Â
All RAM 2500 trucks feature push-button starter buttons. That gets the party started but if it tends to get too loud, that's where the RAM Heavy Duty's noise cancellation steps in. Combined with acoustic glass, they reduce ambient cabin sounds by nearly 10-db-making it the quietest RAM Heavy Duty ever made.
There's also more storage than ever before on the new RAM 2500 making it one productive work vehicle. That includes the ability to charge your devices. Inside there are five USB ports in the center console and up to three 115-volt household outlets throughout the cabin to handle up to 400 watts to charge or power tools, laptops and smartphones.
