Compass Performance
Available in three trims- Limited, Latitude and Sport -the 2012 Jeep Compass comes with a standard 2.0L engine that delivers world-class performance in all-weather conditions, and pumps out 158hp and 141 lb-ft of torque. A slightly larger 2.4L I-4 engine that produces 172hp and 165 lb-ft of torque is also available. The Sport comes standard with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the Limited and Latitude are equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission with AutoStick shifter (also available as an option on the Sport). The AutoStick shifter allows for either fully automatic shifting or driver-interactive manual control with six simulated stepped-gear ratios. There are three drivetrain configurations available for the 2012 Compass: front-wheel drive, Freedom Drive I and Freedom Drive II full-time active 4WD system with Trail Rated capability. Fuel economy ranges from 21 city/27 hwy on a 4X2 2.4L AutoStick Transmission model to a 23 city/29 hwy on 2.0L 5-Speed Manual Transmission models.
Compass Standard Equipment and Options
From the recognizable seven-slot grille with chrome surrounds to the subtly sculpted rear fascia and spoiler, the 2012 Jeep Compass offers a unique exterior style. Complimenting that exterior is a comfortable, modern cabin infused with premium materials and bright chrome accents. Every Compass comes equipped with the revolutionary Uconnect system that allows drivers to make calls, find destinations and access their favorite music. A 4-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3/SiriusXM audio system with audio jack comes standard, while a premium Boston Acoustics 9-Speaker Sound System (available on the Latitude and Limited) sports an articulating rear liftgate speaker that is perfect for tailgating, picnics and more.
There are several packages that can be added on for those wanting to customize their Compass to fit their lifestyle and needs, such as an All Weather Capability Group (Sport 4X4 and Latitude 4X4) that adds 17" all-terrain Goodyear tires, floor mats, an engine block heater, tow hooks and daytime running headlamps. A Freedom Drive II Off-Road Group is also available on all trims and adds over 15 features that give the Compass the capability to take on unexpected off-road situations, including steep grades, occasional wheel lift, and rock or log climbing. |

Standard safety features include advanced multistage driver and front-passenger airbags, Electronic Stability Control, four-wheel Antilock Brake System with rough road detection, Brake Assist and All-speed Traction Control. In extreme steering maneuvers, the Electronic Stability Control with Electronic Roll Mitigation helps you maintain control. The system senses wheel slippage and responds automatically to help the driver gain control. |
